Power Edge R730 and R730xd can't see NVME SSD
I have a Patriot P300 128GB connected to a PCIe slot with an Axagon PCEM2-D adapter on a R730 and R730xd. When I try to install an OS to a drive that isn't the NVME, the OS can see and interact with the NVME after the install without any problems, but iDrac can't seem to see it, and when I try to install the OS to the NVME and boot after the install sometimes the iDrac can see it, other times it can't. I swapped the adapter into a Precision Rack 7910 and it worked flawlessly, the device appeared in the System Setup --> Device Settings menu. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Gmajn,
I am not familiar with the cards you are installing, and I am not seeing them as supported on the R730 or R730xd, so that may be the underlying issue. What I would recommend is going with a supported controller like the H730P (part # J6MDM)
The R730 supports NVMe drives, would you clarify the part numbers for the NVMe drives you are using, so I can also so if they are compatible?
Let me know if this helps.

@DELL-Chris H Thanks for the reply, I'm not exactly sure what you need, I'll also link the data sheets I've used
Patriot P300 128GB
Part number P300P128GM28
EAN / UPC 0814914026748

Axagon PCEM2-D

So far, I've settled for a solution of having the GRUB bootloader on a different SATA SSD that the servers can recognize, and then booting to the LV one the NVME drive by default, this is ok for now, but I'd prefer if the firmware recognized the drive like it does in the Precision rack. Just to add, I've also tried applying some related firmware updates through the iDrac, but they didn't help.
I've also found a similar issue, although I don't want to use the controller in RAID mode, just in HBA.
