This article says to contact Dell Tech support to get the fw update for the Dell branded version of that drive:

@DELL-Rey G

I just have the drives I'm trying to update. I don't have the any other Dell hardware with a service tag which is what they want when I call in. I just want the firmware they referenced in the article and that's it since I can't find it on the support pages anywhere.

The latest firmware version should be listed under the devices support page, as that document is 4 years old there is a chance the fw revision was pulled for some reason. Would you confirm what the specific system model you are using, that will let me check what is available.

@DELL-Chris H I believe the C6420 support page could have the update for these drives but I suspect it requires a corporate account to view and download.

The document you were referencing doesn't pertain to the C6420, as seen on the blue bar here. The C6420 driver and download files are not blocked by corporate login, and can be found here

@DELL-Chris H

Thanks Chris, I referenced the C6420 because while doing my research I found references to it using the same model drive I'm trying to update. When I looked at it's support page, I see a lot of drive update firmware files. Unfortunately of the many listed, none of them were for my drive.

When I look at the support pages for the devices listed on the notice, I don't see any drive firmware files and I see this blue bar at the bottom. I'm thinking what I'm looking for may require a corporate account to view but I don't have any way of verifying. This are enterprise drives so to me, it seems plausible.

@ogplayer1 Hello, p/n 118000267, 118000203 I don't reckon these a Dell certified part. Please check your https://dell.to/42Ra1a2 and send us a picture of the drives if you want to.

i did alot of searching last night to view the fw's that were released for this drive. CQPJ was scheduled to be released, but that project was cancelled for this drive. So basically, it was never released to the public, and it wasnt even created in our internal database as a file that was going to be made available for public release.

Very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to do that research. When you did that research, can you tell me what the latest firmware revision is for these drives is?

The databases I have access to only show what firmware update packages that were or were going to be created. For that drive, I didnt find any firmware packages. This isnt odd from my experience as there are drives that never have firmware update packages created for them, and they just ship from Dell with what the manufacturer puts on the drives.
