PE T130 with H330 - upgrading bios and controller firmware

I have an new client that has a T130 with H330 Raid 5, it's not a domain controller. Upon restart it gets hung up at restarting computer, they have to power off and back on.  L2/L3 Cache error  was detected on the RAID controller.

The server does boot, everything working fine. Event log displays:

Severity: Critical, Category: Storage, MessageID: CTL56, Message: Controller 0 (PERC H330 Adapter) event log: Fatal firmware error: Line 782 in ../../raid/ppc476l2.c

It looks like controller firmware has not been updated since installation of server in 2016, also BIOS hasn't been updated. I'm thinking the controller firmware needs to be updated to resolve this error. My question is do I need to install all older versions of firmware first or can I install just the most current. Same question for the BIOS and also should I do the BIOS update first?

This is not a domain controller, hosts the accounting system only. This server will likely be replaced in the next year or the system moved to the cloud version but we need to keep things running in the time being.

Thanks!

Hi,

Usually I would suggest the users to update the firmware gradually. First update the BIOS and LCC then only the PERC firmware. I remember in one of the post I replied to, months ago, there was an user tried with the SUU ISO update which helped him on the update of firmware.

Thanks. Do you mean I need to update each previous version of the bios, one at a time until it’s current? Firmware as well?

Hi, just a heads up if you're updating from a really old BIOS version, you might need to install an intermediate version first. Some updates have prerequisites, so it's worth checking the release notes before jumping straight to the latest one.
