"PDR1001 Fault detected" on PowerEdge R620 with 4HDDs

Hi all,

I bought a Dell PowerEdge R620 with 4 SAS HDD (540GB x 4) and i configured a RAID 10 with them.

The server has a problem when i try to install a virtualization OS on it, probably a problem with the HDDs, the softwar say that it can't write partitions on the disk (RAID) and on the LCD on the front panle there is an error like "PDR1001 Fault detected on drive 0". I tried to switch the HDDs but the error is present with all of them.

I also tried to change the OS version to test if something change but i always got the same problem.

Here you can find a directory with some screen and a video with the error: Dell PowerEdge R620 Error.

I think it's really strange all the 4 HDDs are broken, i tried to insert only two of them and change the RAID configuration (i tried RAID0, RAID1 and RAID5) but always with the same error.

Anyone have an idea? I wanted to disable the SMART status check but unfortunatly it seems to be readonly option and i can't switch it to disable.

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance

Christian

Hi,

I hardly come across that Dell drive has 540GB. Can you provide me the drive DPN#, let me check for compatibility. Is the drive a Dell drive?

I can recall, there are some post about the issue you faced. It is related to the compatibility of the drive and server. Have you also completed the updates of the server's firmware?

I forgot to mention, I notice the video contained your server's private information. I would recommend deleting it to protect your privacy in this public forum.
