need to know the HDD type and RAID setting

If a OnlineRaidExpansion is possible depends on the type of Raidcontroller, Raidgroup/level. Based on the STAG you can check dell.com/support and it will tell you how the server left the factory which means you can find our the type of RAID controller.

You can install OMSA to find out how the server is configured as well as OMreport (command line stuff).

If no iDRAC at all our just unconfigured(unknown config or password). If a iDRAC exists you can install the iDRAC Tools which gives your radadm(.exe) which exists for Windows, Linux and ESX. You will be able to reconfigure the iDRAC on the fly together with setting a new password. 
We just copy the racadm.exe together with 1-2 *.dll from one system to another so there is no need for "installating" something. As long as your have administator/root permission on OS level the racadm let your modify the iDRAC.

Note: Older iDRACs doesnt have the Storage configure options and iam not sure if you see storage related things in older versions. So try OMSA first which gives your a WebGUI on https://localhost:1311  (login with OS Admin).
