Largest Possible SSD in a Dell PowerEdge R720XD with a PERC H710P controller
Hello All....
Is it possible to install 24 x 3.84TB SATA SSD's in a PowerEdge R720XD x 24SFF server, that has a PERC H710p controller installed in it? If not, what is the largest SSD that Dell would support in this configuration? We are trying to get as close to 100TB total storage as possible. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Greg

Hi,
PERC H710P do not have restriction on the maximum capacity, but it restricts number of spans in a disk group. You can refer to this guide, page 10: https://dell.to/4hrjPfM
If you wish to install max 24 disk, you might need to check H710P's restricts. Example, if you were to use RAID10, 8 spans x 2 disks/span = 16 disks.
R720XD supports 3.8TB SSD SATA. Here's an example DPN#
DC29P 3.8TB, SSD, Non Encrypted, 2E IT06, 2.5 Inch, Height 7mm, Intel Youngsville ISE, Intel, Enterprise
2XVX2 3.8TB, SSD, Non Encrypted, 2E, 2.5 Inch, KIOXIA Corporation, Enterprise Class
KM4C4 3.8TB, SSD, Non Encrypted, SATA, 2.5 Inch, Height 7mm, Intel, Enterprise Class
