How to initialize a physical disk in R730xd?
Hello,
I previously posted about a failed drive in our R730xd setup and have since gotten a replacement drive. When I load the disk into the R730xd though, it does not see the physical disk. I have gone over the user manual multiple times and haven't seen any actionable advice to find a solution. Almost definitely this is my own ignorance of probably a very simple step.
Does anyone have any insight into the proper behavior and procedure with installing a new physical disk into the R730xd?

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
Can I have the disk part number on both old and the new one please?
Do you have an extra slot that you can try the disk into? That could also help.
Respectfully,

The old and new drives are identical, part number is: 3DL103-881.
Whichever slot I put the drive in will be the slot missing from the drive list. Currently in the Lifecycle Controller, I see disks in caddy slots 1-3, 5-13. If I move it up one slot, it'll then show disks in caddy slots 1-2, 4-13.
Thank you for your assistance

Tuckerturner,
I am not seeing that drive listed as supported for the R730xd, so that may be the reason it isn't working. That being said, it doesn't mean the drive definitely won't work, just that we don't test with the drive, so we can't say how the server or drive will react.
All I can say about the others working is that it may be due to different firmware levels or some minute difference, but it isn't supported on our side..
Let me know if this helps.
