Flashing Amber Light On SCSI Drive

I own a PE2500. The #5 SCSI drive has an amber light flashing on it indicating that something is wrong, how ever, I've searched the system log and cannot find anything wrong. The server seems to be performing just fine. Are there any diagnostic tools out there to find out what's going on?

Have you got OpenManage Server Admin with the storage option installed?
This should give an indication of whats wrong.

If the disk is in a raid array, try re-seating it and check what the leds do?
If they turn flashing green then its rebuilding, if it stays amber then the there might be something wrong with the disk.

Are all firmware and drivers up to date? Bios, Perc & ESM

I've just installed OpenManage IT Assistant on my server. Is this the correct program, if so, I'm getting a message saying "Control not yet initiated."

I've tried reseating the drive and with in a few minutes the led flashes amber again.

IT Assistant is used to collate info from all the individual Server Administrators that are installed onto each server. Open Manage Server Administrator 4.5 or 5.0 is the correct progam for individual servers.

If the drive flashes amber after a re-seat it it more than likely failed.

Go into the perc bios and see if any errors are present

Main Menu - Objects - Physical Drive  - F3  (look for Media or Other errors)
