Expanding Storage Space on a Raid Drive

I have just replaced two 500Gb Drives in a RAID 1 configuration on an IDRAC9 with two 4Tb drives, which are now fully rebuilt.

I've been told that to get the extra space on the drives that I will need to create a new Virtual disk, which scares me a bit as I don't want to lose any of the data on the drives, I have made a backup as suggested.

What is the process I need to do in order to increase to storage space from the current 500Gb to the new 4Tb without losing any data.

Weyside,

This would be dependent on the server model you are working on, as well as the controller, as the process isn't always the same between generations.

Would you confirm those for me. as well as would you confirm what specifically you are wanting to do, such as expand the Virtual Disk with the additional space, or if you just want to create another Virtual Disk from the additional space.  If it is the latter, then it would just be to access the controller BIOS, select to create a new Virtual Disk, select the physical disks, then while staying within the available space you can then configure the size, then select apply to create it.

Let me know and we can go from there.
