Drive not supported after dead HDD replacement.
Hello,
I recently noticed that my PowerEdge R430 was displaying a notice of a drive dying. My typical disk "dealer" wasn't available so I went ahead and bought new drives. When I put them in, the drives are displayed in IDRAC as "blocked" and in the log there is "The Disk 2 in Backplane 1 of Integrated RAID Controller 1 is not supported.".
I already read, that I can try and fix it with a firmware update, but the update will not start with the Virtual Disk in a degraded state. How should I proceed from here?

Hello,
It looks like the first drive you posted is a non-Dell drive. Meaning it is not Dell branded and Dell firmware.
The second one you have posted looks to be validated for the R430.
Dell part number:O
DP/N: 529FG
Part #:529FG
Part Desc.:HD,4T,NL6,7.2K,3.5,S-MEG,E/C
HDD, 4TB, 512b, NL-SAS6, 7.2K RPM, 3.5 inch, 128MB, Seagate, Megalodon, (Enterprise Class)
Even though they both show to be Constellation ES.3 only the second one is Dell firmware.
The five digit part number is a Service part number.
You can contact Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department to get a quote for purchase.

Hello,
You may have a non-Dell drive. If the drives are non-Dell drives, the drive firmware and the RAID controller aren't compatible and may not work.
NOTE:Mixing 512–byte native and 512–byte emulated drives in a virtual disk is allowed, but mixing 512–byte and 4 KB native drives in a virtual disk is not allowed.
Can you post image of the drive label showing the Dell Part number (DP/N) and I can check if it is validated for the R430
Also please post picture of your failed hard drive label for reference.
What PERC controller you have?

@DELL-Charles R Hello, this is the drive I'm trying to put in, and is getting blocked. It's a Seagate Constellation ES.3
I'm also attaching a picture of the original drive, it's a Dell Constellation ES.3, also manufactured by Seagate
Lastly, according to IDRAC, my PREC is PREC H730 Mini (embedded)

@DELL-Charles R Hello, what should I do now then? Return the drives and buy new ones? Or is there any way I can actually use them?
If using them isn't an option, is this drive OK? - DELL 0V9M9K 4TB 7.2K 128MB SAS-3 3.5'' ST4000NM0025

Hello,
You would not be able to use it on a PowerEdge server.
It has NetApp firmware: NA01
https://kb.netapp.com/on-prem/ontap/OHW/OHW-Issues/CFDISK-813
You should return it if possible and get a hard drive with Dell firmware to work with a PowerEdge server.
I couldn't confirm that V9M9K will work. Not enough in the parts database to confirm.
One of these should work for you.

@DELL-Charles R Hello, could you provide me with some kind of list of all supported drives? If something like that exists.
