Does mini sas to sata work on dell poweredge R410

Hello 

I recently got an dell poweredge R410 after adding some ram succesfuly i wanted to remove the raid sas contrôler to replace it by a gpu for that i bought a mini sas to sata x4 câble to conect from the backplane to the sataport on the mother board but on boot mu drive is not detected but the DVD drive also in sata is detected even after inverting thé différent port sont i would like to know if what i want to do can work or not
