To turn off the notification for the missing SAS controller on your Dell R640 server with an NVMe RAID controller H755, you can follow these steps:

  1. Enter the BIOS or System Setup:

    • Power on the server.
    • Press F2 during the boot process to enter the BIOS/UEFI configuration (System Setup).
  2. Locate the Integrated Devices Section:

    • Navigate to Integrated Devices or a similarly named option, depending on the BIOS version.
  3. Disable the SAS Controller:

    • Find the option related to the SAS Controller or Integrated RAID Controller.
    • Set it to Disabled. This should stop the system from looking for the SAS controller, which you’ve removed.
  4. Save and Exit:

    • Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
    • The system will reboot, and the notification should no longer appear.

If you continue seeing the alert, you may also need to check the Lifecycle Controller settings or use Dell's iDRAC to clear any alerts related to the missing hardware.

The whole problem is that this particular server does not have such an item.

On another server of a similar model, this item is present.

Hello,

Do you have Collect System Inventory On Restart (CSIOR) enabled?

-boot to F2 -> System Setup -> iDRAC Settings -> Lifecycle Controller to check status

-Choose: Lifecycle Controller set to Enabled

-Collect System Inventory on Restart set to Enabled.

-Cancel Lifecycle Controller Actions set to Yes.

Can you see the drives on the H755?

Was the H755 add-on after sale or purchased this way?

What was the SAS Controller you removed?

Of course

-boot to F2 -> System Setup -> iDRAC Settings -> Lifecycle Controller to check status

-Choose: Lifecycle Controller set to Enabled

-Collect System Inventory on Restart set to Enabled.

-Cancel Lifecycle Controller Actions set to Yes.

Can you see the drives on the H755?

Yes, i see all drives.

Was the H755 add-on after sale or purchased this way?

H755 add-on after sale

What was the SAS Controller you removed?

Removed HBA H330

After removing the H330 controller and installing H755, I get this error every time I boot.

Hello,

I see the issue. The H755 is not supported on the R640.

R640 spec sheet

If you return the H330 and cables does the error resolve?

I also noticed one of your images says VxRail.

If that is what you are working on I recommend posting in that forum section:

Hello,

You are correct. The H750 is validated for the R640.

The H755 is not in the service parts database for the R640.

I don't see any documentation that says the H755 is valid on the R640.

Maybe someone in the community has tried it and can share their experience.

@DELL-Charles R I have a similar server and there is no such problem. Perhaps the problem will be solved if you insert the H330 controller back, the BIOS will show the "Integrated RAID Controller" option, turn it off and remove the controller.

But here the question is different, why does iDRACgive an error that SAS cables are not connected to the backplane, if this is an optional connection.

Hello, the configuration here https://dell.to/4dAC7YC is the only thing that won't give you any errors. I'm wondering if you are not following this by plugging a part out.

Hey. @FATHER_FBI Your post inspired me to retrolift the R640 and connect the H755 and it actually works without a problem but what cable did you use to connect the NVME backplate to the H755 Adapter? Do you have P/N:?
