Dell R730 RAID question

I have a dell r730. Has 8 4tb WD reds with TrueNAS installed. When i installed truenas i only had 4 drives. I added 4 more today. However during boot the server only sees the original 4 under virtual disks. The other 4 are seen but only when you use iDRAC or bios settings. Looking on google it looks like its because they are not part of the RAID. How do I add these 4 drives to the existing raid so I can have them seen in truenas so I can extended the storage? i do not want to loose any data.

Hello, I believe this has to be done on the OS, TrueNAS. This video may help.

You need to perform a Online Capacity Expansion (OCE). So take a look into the H730 manual.

@Origin3k I did do that but I messed it up and added all 4 to the group so now TrueNAS only say it as 14TB.  i should of done it one 4TB at a time.  Any way to change that?

  1. Expand Diskgroup
  2. Expand VD
  3. Expand the Filesystem within the OS

@Origin3k without losing any data?  I let truenas attach the 14tb not thinking it would only use 4tb out of the 14tb.
