Dell PowerEdge R620 with PERC H710 Mini not allowing global hot swap
As the title says, I have not been able to set a replacement drive on a RAID 50 array as the global hot spare without selecting "Apply at Next Reboot".
This is a separate issue from my previous post, but is in reference to the Patriot 1TB and 512GB SSD drives that I purchased. Out of 18 1TB drives and 18 512GB drives, only 5 of the 512GB drives actually registered as good with the PowerEdge R620.
Interestingly enough, when I go into iDRAC > Storage > Physical Disks and look at the "bad drives," they all show not predicted to fail.
Anyway, has anyone had their H710 do this? The error when I tried "apply now" was as follows:
Job creation was unsuccessful. STOR302: Unable to create the job because the Apply Operation Mode selected is not supported for this operation. Choose a different Apply Operation mode "Apply at Next Reboot" from the Apply Operation Mode drop-down menu.
After this, I went ahead and did the "Apply at Next Reboot," and it added to the job queue. After the first resetart the job would fail; however, upon the second reboot, the job completed successfully, and then the drives started to resync.
Has anyone seen this before?
Another side note is that when I went to iDRAC > Storage > Enclosure> Expand the enclosure id ... it shows that the (3) slots where I still have the "bad drives" loaded are empty. I also noted that those drives are labeled as "Solid State Disk 0:X" whereas the good drives read as "Solid State Disk 0:1:x"

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to our online community. We truly appreciate your engagement. Unfortunately, when non‑validated or third‑party drives are involved, the systme's behavior can be unpredictable, and we are unable to provide accurate guidance or support in such cases.
I’m sorry that I’m unable to offer more assistance this time, but please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.
