Adding an additional drive to a three drive RAID 5 with a PERC H700 adapter
Can I add an add a 4th hard drive without rebuilding the array.

Yes. Needs to be done using OMSA: Storage, PERC, Virtual Disks, Reconfigure from the dropdown menu of Available Tasks for the RAID 5.

Dell PowerEdge R710
With my PERC H700 I have a mirrored pair and a 3 drive RAID 5 with one slot remaining. I want to add a fourth drive to the RAID 5. Can this be done without rebuilding the Array.

The OS I'm running is XenServer, I've found how to install OMSA but would rather not. Can adding a new drive be done during the server boot process instead?
Ctrl-R to launch the PowerEdge Expandable RAID Controller BIOS.

No. What is your hesitation?

My hesitation, Linux is not in my comfort level. I was trying to confirm what I think was true with the BIOS utility and from what I saw and read you are incorrect that it won't work.
So at this point, I'll try the BIOS utility first and install the other utility if it fails.
Thank you for your assistance.
