Why Dell stopped using Hynix RAMs in PowerEdge XR2 and proposed Samsung RAMs as an upgrade

I had an issue with one of the RAM modules installed in PowerEdge XR2 Server and when I purchased a new RAM from Dell I found that it was not the same model  as the old one

The first model was Hynix while the new one is the Samsung

Original RAM type Hynix HMA82GR7CJR8N-VK16 GB Dual-Rank DDR4 2666 MHz

New Upgraded RAM type Samsung M393A2K43EB3-CWE16 GB Dual-Rank DDR4 3200 MHz

I need to confirm if the Hynix type is a defective part and i need to upgrade all RAM modules in the server (6XOFF) to the new Samsung type

MohamedRezq,

I don't think the issue is due to them having some sort of defect, as much as it likely being due to lack of availability. The reason I say that is that the dimm is still being listed as supported under the server (part # PWR5T), which normally if there was an issue with a part it would no longer be listed for the server.

Let me know if this helps.
