Which is the DP/N number for the iDRAC7 Enterprise Remote Access card at the back of this server?
Hi, I have a bit confusion about which is the actual DP/N number for the iDRAC7 Enterprise Remote Access card for the T420 T320 because there are two very similar almost identical available for sale on ebay, the 02827M which I have and the WD6D2 0WD6D2 which has a bit different pins, can you clarify which is more suitable?, thank you very much

Hi, thank you for reply, I have couple of questions, at the moment I am using the card with the DP/N number 2827M at the back rear of both my T420 and within the BIOS or in windows no matter which SD card I insert in such slot nothing is detected, do you think is going to make a difference if I use the DP/N number WD6D2 card instead ?, another question please, yesterday I ask in another thread of this same forum about such iDRAC7 Enterprise card with a SD card slot and a RJ45 ethernet port, the question was if was compulsory to have iDRAC Enterprise to allow both features to work the card and the RJ45 and the Moderator told me only the RJ45 ethernet port for the iDRAC need the Enterprise license, but today I check carefully in the BIOS and found the vFlash slot at the back of T420 needs license, therefore can you please comment about this two questions?, thank you very much

Tonschk,
2827M isn't listed as supported on the T420, so going to the WD602 should make a difference, as it is supported. As far as the licensing question you had, the iDrac Enterprise card does require the Enterprise licenses for its features. You can find the list of all the iDrac features, and the licensing required for each of them, by clicking on the View the list of licensed IDRAC7 features link on the page here.

Hi, thank you for quick reply, on eBay are selling iDRAC7 Enterprise license, when I will get such license from eBay is there a way to enable such license without the compulsory need to access the Dell iDRAC website?, I have serious problems to access such iDRAC website because being the T420 about 13 or more years old the browsers available long time ago are not compatible with the latest windows operating system I am currently using and when I type the IP address always get error timeout, thank you
I know the supported browsers for iDRAC7 are
Microsoft internet explorer 8
Microsoft internet explorer 9
Microsoft internet explorer 10
Microsoft internet explorer 11
Safary version 5.2
Safary version 6.0
Moxilla Firefox version 33
Google Chrome ver. 38

I am not certain your specific OS, but if you install iDrac Tools (this is for Server2016), then you would be able to import the license using RACADM commands, as seen on page 89-90 here.
If you have an older OS then let me know which specifically, and I can get you the correct version.

I gave that process as you stated you weren't able to connect to the web interface, so that gives you a tool you can use when configuring idrac settings, but here is another option to import the license.
Importing iDRAC License Using Lifecycle Controller USB, on page 8 here.
. Insert USB before power up.
. Start Lifecycle Controller, press <F10> during POST
. In the left pane, click Platform Restore, and then click Import Server License
. Select the USB Drive option, and then select the name of USB drive where the license file is stored.
. Note: Make sure to copy the license.xml license file in to the USB drive.
. I recommend put it on the root of the USB.
. Type full path of the license file, and then click Finish.
. Lifecycle Controller takes a few minutes to import the license file.
. A message is displayed to indicate that the file is successfully imported.

@DELL-Chris H Thank you very much Chris, I think the second option you suggest can be more likely for me to work because somewhere I saw that RACADM commands only work if you have already iDRAC7 Enterprise license but I am not fully sure about that, anyway I going to ask the ebay seller which is the format he is going to send me via message the iDRAC7 Enterprise license if is hopefully a "license.xml" fashion file , thank you

@DELL-Chris H Hi, a question related to this problem please, do you know if the sort of iDRAC license if basic or Express or Enterprise the T420/T320 have is not somewhere on the motherboard itself but is in the front control panel which have the service tag for the server, please confirm or not this statement, because in case of motherboard replacing the service tag on the front panel can still show provide the sort of license when the server originally was shipped, thank you very much

Hello, control panel does store copy of the config and iDRAC license in case if mobo gets replaced.
But you can always have the license and server profile imported in case if both get faulty.
Respectfully,

@DELL-Young E Hi good day and thank you for reply, with the service tag of this T420 I went to Dell support website and after typing such service tag the only information available there was a sort of out of warranty and support ended 2020 and not much else, was not available visible the sort of iDRAC license related with this service tag, is a way perhaps to check in a Dell website the sort of iDRAC license linked to a specific service tag?, thank you very much
