Upgrade memory in Dell T30 server

I would like to upgrade the memory in my Dell T30 server.

The factory fitted memory is 8GB, 2Rx8, unbuffered, EEC, 2133MHz (SK Hynix HMA41GU7AFR8N).

I would like to upgrade to 16GB or more.

Would this memory card be compatible ?

https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/samsung-m391a2k43bb1-cpb-16gb-pc4-17000p-e-2rx8-ddr4-2133mhz-ecc-ram

The Dell T30 manual gives example configurations which total 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64GB.

Is it possible to have 24GB ? i.e. I keep my existing 8GB card and add a 16GB card ?

From what I've read, I just need to ensure both memory cards are unbuffered EEC and 2Rx8 ?

Johnlintern,

That dimm is listed as support for the T30, and is reflected as part number 7XRW4.

The specs are 16GB,unbuffered 2133,2RX8,8G,DDR4

Let me know if this helps.

@DELL-Chris H Thanks for your response

Will I be able to use the existing 8GB memory card with this 16GB Samsung memory card to get a total of 24GB ?

Or can the total memory only be 4, 8, 16, 32 or 64 GB ?

@johnlintern

As seen on page 67 here, memory modules of different capacities can be mixed, as long as the other memory guidelines are followed.

Thanks again. What do you mean as reflected in part number 7XRW4 ?  That’s not in the part number of the 16GB card in the link?

so just to confirm, that 16GB card is compatible ?

What I meant was that we have that specific part listed under the T30, the Dell part number for the M391A2K43BB1-CPB is 7XRW4. Thats all I meant.
