Unable to update BIOS on PowerEdge R610 — Error: "Cannot use BIOS "Dell System PowerEdge R610"
Stopped with a simple attempt to update the BIOS on the server Dell PowerEdge R610.
Current BIOS version: 2.1.15
Goal: upgrade to a newer version (for example, 2.1.17, 2.1.19, etc.)
When trying to run an update via a flash utility (including from under DOS and in the middle of Winpe), perhaps you will feel at home.:
The BIOS "Dell System PowerEdge R610" cannot be used in the system
Press any key to exit.

Lordfre,
Would you confirm if when you went to the support page to download the BIOS update, if you pulled it up by entering the svc tag, or did you simply choose the R610 support page?
I ask as I am curious if the system you have is an OEMR R610, not a straight R610. Would you confirm this by going here, and entering the servers svc tag?
Also, the BIOS version number you gave isn't the same as updates listed on the support page (from version 6.1.0-6.6.0), where the oldest is 14 years old.
Let me know what you see, and if possible would you share screenshots or other details.

@DELL-Chris H
Hi,
Here is a screenshot of what I see when I enter the service tag of my server on the Dell support page (attached).
I was trying to update the BIOS, and I downloaded the update directly from the support page that appears after entering the service tag, rather than from the general R610 model page.
My system currently has BIOS version 2.1.15 installed, and it cannot update to the latest version using the files from this page.

Hi,
The lowest revision is 6.1.0. I am unsure if the version that you are on needs to be at a specific version to accept the update 6.1.0. My suggestion to contact the support line to obtain a lower version of 6.1, as it is not available on any of the FTP servers for download.
My suggestion also is to try check if iDRAC/LCC is updated, so you can utilize .exe file firmware update in LifeCycle Controller.
PS: I will be deleting the screenshot as it contains your private information.
