Troubleshoot u.2 drive, Dell R740

good afternoon,

We are having trouble installing a brand new u.2 drive into our dell server.  We have drive many different things to no avail.  I have confirmed on a different computer that the drive works.

When we install it through the drive ports in the front, we see a static green light, then it immediately goes flashing. Below is the drive in question

https://www.amazon.com/SOLIDIGM-D5-P5430-15-36-TB-Intensive/dp/B0C6BR89C2/ref=sr_1_6?crid=1J6LLZ69QNCV3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.qec52Mt1TdLp4KjeIKcNUK5DxhmMUfHIz8P6AB2KX_NIIMNzQTYDUzRUPus-xbJcKEcHiB6knUkX1W23yCQGQugI_JabuMl6u1hr2DbLTeywJiJpCE4vTtDNHtg-9tfNvbGHeUOBT2GD9dQI7w06uFKDppfy4o5R75XyD-ptEks.2J8iZhPi3Huthd9sDg8rwgokpVMByk-55VP8a4O5JvY&dib_tag=se&keywords=solidgm&qid=1732063760&sprefix=solidgm%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-6

iDRAC does not show any useful information, and ive booted into bios to see if I can see something, which also didnt work.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hello thanks for choosing Dell.
Depending on the server model you have, the answer we can give you would differ.
The part on Amazon, which is not Dell certified, please know it may be not be recognized by your controller since a Dell certified part has its own firmware.

Thank you for the reply,

What can I provide you that would help? Our SKU is the following

2x4210R 4x16GB H750 2x960GB 4x1GB 2x1100W LINUX 4xL4

Are there any drivers that will help with this?  When we plug it into the controller, it is recognized and immediately marked for removal (static green light, then flashing green light).

On the other hand, we are able to connect a USB 3 adapter and see the drive; however, as soon as heavy writes occur, the controller disconnects. This drive is especially important for our use case due to its heavy write speed capability, so any support you can provide would be great!

Best,
