PowreEdge R470 - Virtualization features (VT-x) of CPU are Forced ENABLED
All:
On an evaluation PowerEdge R470, I notice that within the EUFI BIOS Setup -> Processor Settings, that "Virtualization Technology" cannot be disabled.
Is this new standard in the Industry ( I do not do a lot of datacenter computing recently, and I skipped the PowerEdge 16th Generation, if it even existed), or is this something specific that Dell is doing to override Intel UEFI (to avoid a few support calls)?
This is concerning because of the the large quantity/number of Ransomware attacks that depend on deploying a GNU/Linux VM to take over the raw disk for encryption and decryption and managing the bitcoin payment scheme.
Ultimately: Virtualization (VT-x) should be able to be disabled on any host baremetal that is not a hypervisor.

Hello, in my opinion it is most likely it is working as designed, and it could be related to your server hardware config, please reach out to local support, considering R470 is a new system and has to be in warranty. Contact Technical Support | Dell US

Just curious to hear from other Datacenter computing experts who have lots of 17th gen (XEON 5th gen) boxes going in, if this is a common practice, and/or if it is limited to Dell, or if all INTEL OEMs have the same problem.
