Poweredge R740xd part numbers

Hi everyone,

My homelab server motherboard suddenly died. Now I am trying to find another one to replace. Can anyone tell me what's the difference between part numbers? My one has 0F6MHX. After a little research I found that there are many part numbers for the R740/740xd board, but they all have different prices. Can you tell me if the part number matters when buying a new board?

Oxydester,

I am not finding anything for the part number you listed, so would you confirm it is accurate and let me know? You can also include a icture of the label on the motherboard itself, if that is easier.

As far as your question though, the differences in the motherboards could be based on which processors supported (Intel, AMD) and other type of devices. Another difference are what Dell calls Mid Life Kickers (MLK), which is when something was changed on the boards due to performance, or an identified issue, so a new revision would be released. Now on some servers, the risers could also have been updated, and require the newer board. So to answer your question, there could be a veriety of differences in motherboards. Now since I can't identify the boards part number, let me know via a picture, or you can also reply to the private message I sent you with the servers svc tag, and I can find the part number myself.

Let me know.

I am not able to pull many details on that part number, would you respond to the private message I sent with the svc tag and I can identify the board you would need to look for.
