PowerEdge R430 hangs at shutdown - VMWare ESXi
Hello,
I am using a Dell PowerEdge R430 with VMWare ESXi as the OS, which freezes when shutting down through the OS and does not allow me to enter maintenance mode in any form (data migration, etc.) The OS is not fully frozen because it moves the screen up when I press the enter button. But I can't check the logs while it's doing that. The system control board battery had an error message during this boot but it seems to intermittently have problems and then sometimes not. Could that be the issue? Would the system control board battery cause the server to freeze on shutdown?
Thanks in advance

Hello,
It might be the CMOS battery. It would be an easy fix to replace the battery.
It is a standard coin cell battery CR2032
Can you access the LifeCycle Controller (LCC) <F10> on boot up and check the LCC log for related errors?
Try Run hardware diagnostics while in the LCC.:
Boot to the LCC and run the built in Diagnostics. Note any errors and continue testing.
Also take a look at the iDRAC logs, if you are able to log into the DRAC, for any related error messages.
