OEMR R540 drive failure
OEMR R540
I am not a true IT person just to make that clear. I have a PoweredgeR550 PERC H730P running Windows Server 2016. This is one of 3 servers running Avigilon Control Center 7 video software. Servers installed Dec 2018 with a service contract that expired Dec 2023 and I have been trying to get approval to replace servers since that fall 2023. I believe I will have approval to replace with new servers next spring and need to baby this server along until that time.
Yesterday we had a Raid Controller failure leaving the server running but disabling the video software. I rebooted the server. After the reboot the server and the video software restarted but Server Administrator under Storage -Physical Disk 0:1:12 failed and is offline. I have a replacement drive to replace the failed disk but I am unable to fully disable or verify the correct drive that failed. This server has 12 hot swapable drives but shows 14 physical disks in the Server Administrator labeled 0:1:0to 0:1:13. I blinked and unblinked the failed drive with not change to the lights on the drive. I am currently rebuilding the drive but i do not have high hopes it will be successful. If it is not how do identify and what is the process for replacing the drive?
Thanks

Hello, I’m not sure if you are using R540 or R550.
I believe it’s safer if you collect the TSR with storage logs.
Export a SupportAssist Collection Using an iDRAC9 | Dell US
"I am currently rebuilding the drive but i do not have high hopes it will be successful."
From TSR/TTY we can see if it is going smooth or not.
Respectfully,
