No More System Status (Picture of Server with Drives) After Updating iDRAC9 to 7.x on R7525
Hello. I noticed that updating the iDRAC in my PowerEdge R7525 to the 7.x releases, that picture that shows the front of the server with the drive bays populated under Storage doesn't appear anymore. If I roll back to 6.10.80.00 it's there. Was this removed from iDRAC 7.00.00.00 and above? I couldn't find anything about it being removed in any release notes, unless I missed something. Pic below is what I'm referring to.

Hello,
Image for NVMe is missing that is why no server image.
We were able to reproduce the issue in the server with NVMe drives and looks like it simply missing the images for them. We will raise it to the engineering team to get it fixed in the next releases, hopefully.

For anyone who come across the same issue-
the fix will be in the upcoming iDRAC release version 7.20.30.50 planned for June 2025- is the current update I have.
Once again, thanks for choosing Dell.

I'm on 7.20.60.50 on an R760 and still no picture of the front with drives. Is it coming?

Are you using Dell branded drives?
What was the firmware version when you last saw the disk pictured?
If you haven't reset the DRAC yet, give that a try.
If you have a maintenance window you may do a quick power drain and check results after.
drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed).
After flea power drain, system has to set for 3 minutes for DRAC to reset without any power plugged in.
Then plug in NIC and power but wait 2 minutes before power on to give DRAC time to initialize.

Yes, all Dell branded drives. I have three new machines where one has SAS SSD drives and displays the front picture. Two machines with NVMe drives connected to PERC does not have the front picture. I do not have records of what the previous version was as they were updated immediately after powering on. The iDRACs have been reset several times.
Flea drain will be difficult as they are now in remote datacenters and I don't have immediate access.

Hello, is your iDRAC up to date?
"Fix will most likely be part of iDRAC release 7.20.30.50, in June 2025."

Yes, as I wrote in my first post I'm on 7.20.60.50 and to my knowledge there is no later version. That's why I wondered since that is later than 7.20.30.50.

Hi,
Normally I’d expect the R760 to show the front image with drives, but I think that only works if the image assets are present and properly mapped in iDRAC. As I investigated this issue the release notes for version 7.20.30.50 specifically mention a fix for NVMe drives not showing up in the Storage Summary page, but I didn’t see anything about that in the 7.20.60.50 notes.
It seems like Dell might still be working on this, or the fix didn’t fully carry over. I’m guessing they’ll release a patch or hotfix in a future iDRAC version to sort it out completely. For now, probably best to keep an eye on upcoming firmware updates.

Thanks, I'll check when new versions arrive and install. It does seem like an easy thing to spot as well as an easy thing to fix though so given the number of builds since the supposed fix I would've expected it to be working.

Chiming in again since this fell off my list of priorities. I noticed that after the update this was supposedly fixed (7.20.30.50), I did see the image render for a 8-bay NVMe configuration on fresh boot of the iDRAC while everything was populating. However, once it discovers this configuration is a 16-bay NVMe configuration, it vanishes. Looking at the image Young E posted of the network tab browser console, he showed it missing for an 8-bay configuration and it seems they only fixed the missing the 8-bay configuration, but not for the 16-bay (can't speak on a 24-bay configuration). See the error 404 on from my PowerEdge R7525
