Multibit ECC errors on a PowerEdge SC830
Hello All,
We just bought a SC830 to host our personnel web site witch was getting a bit to popular for our old P1000 PC.
I am really pleased with the performance of the new server... I have installed Linux FC4 and the WEB service just rocks :-)
Unfortunately, there seems to be a rising problem that made the server hangs completely at least 4 times in a week :-(
While looking in the BIOS maintenance logs, I saw errors about irrecoverables multibit ECC errors... While googling the error, the only suggested solution was to... get an RMA and change the memory sticks...
Anybody have a different opinion ?
Thanks

Did the ESM tell you which dimm (slot) had the error? If so you know which exact dimm needs replacing, if not, you may want to consider replacing all of them to be sure you get the bad one out of the picture.
