I have PowerEdge 2850 with 8 GB Ram

My Server is crashed after booting shown "Memory /battery problems were detected.  The adapter has recovered,  but cached data was lost.  Press any key to continue"

Is the LCD panel blue or amber?  If amber, what is/are the message(s) being displayed?

If blue, it is most likely the memory module, and there is a good chance you will not be able to boot your OS until it is replaced - it will appear as though your OS has been corrupted.

If amber, it is most likely the battery - your OS should operate normally if it is the battery.

As Todd suggested, you should reseat the RAID components (AND the riser card) ... and, if the system/OS are functioning, update the system firmware.

Also keep in mind that this message (if the LCD is blue and the OS functions fine) can be completely normal under certain circumstances ...

  • If it has been without power longer than the life of the battery,
  • If the RAID battery cable was disconnected while off, and/or
  • If the connection was disrupted through some sort of power event (can happen occasionally from a spike/bump/outage).

If the message appears for one of these "normal" situations, then it should disappear after a reboot or two - it will not be persistent.
