Intel NIC Family Version 24.0.0 Firmware for Intel E810 Adapters and Intel E823 LOM firmware update DUP package failure
Using this link:
Dell HW: XR8620t
OS: RHEL8
(Note: the OS is FIPS enabled)
Getting the following when running the BIN file:
./Network_Firmware_N11TD_LN_24.0.5_A00.BIN Collecting inventory............. Running validation... This Update Package is not compatible with your system configuration.
Checking /var/log/dell/updatepackage/log/Network_Firmware_N11TD_LN_24.0.5_A00.txt
<< PACKAGE LOG (Network_Firmware_N11TD_LN_24.0.5_A00) >> ===============> Update Package application started <=============== Commands: /home/pwo/Network_Firmware_N11TD_LN_24.0.5_A00.BIN Date: 2025-09-09 13:53:23 ==================================================================== Extraction Success Release ID: N11TDA00 Update Package version : 25.06.00.804 User: root Collecting inventory... ethtool -i output on the E810 NIC:
driver: ice version: 4.18.0-553.el8_10.x86_64 firmware-version: 4.51 0x8001e4fc 23.0.8 expansion-rom-version: bus-info: 0000:70:00.0 supports-statistics: yes supports-test: yes supports-eeprom-access: yes supports-register-dump: yes supports-priv-flags: yes
Made sure the `ice` driver is loaded (verified by lsmod and modprobe)
When upgrading the FW from iDRAC -> maintenance -> System update -> Automatic update, it seems to work.
But we would like to have a more controlled way when to upgrade FW instead of automatically scheduled via iDRAC automatic update, therefore we would like to use the manual upgrade via the Dell DUP package.

@yhzs87d9190 Our Linux RHEL FW DUP is not signed which explained why it failed with FIPS disabled.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
You can try updating iDRAC but not from OS. I'm also thinking it may be some DUP package issue? It definitely needs further investigation.
XR8620t is a new hardware -I strongly advise you that you officially raise the case, it should still be in warranty.

I have been told that the package is supported in RHEL 8, which OS are you using on the system?

RHEL8.10, FIPS enabled.
With FIPS disabled it worked before.

Thanks! Do you have plan to make a signed version of it?

If you have more than one PowerEdge around consider to deploy OME which acts as a "WSUS" for your Dell Servers when it comes to FW or Driver updates.
