iDRAC9 virtual console too slow to reconnect

We use PE R350s in our lab with Enterprise iDRAC9. On all servers, when I restart the server, the virtual console disconnects then takes so long to reconnect that the "Press F2 for BIOS Setup" screen has passed by the time the virtual console reconnects. I know you can tell it to enter BIOS setup from the virtual console menu on next boot, but that's not the point. I would like to see exactly what that screen looks like to document some steps for our procedure. It's not a major issue, but annoying nonetheless. Any way to get the virtual console to reconnect faster? I did already update BIOS/iDRAC to latest and no change in behavior.

Hello,

If you directly connect to the DRAC from a notebook or workstation, does it load any quicker?

Do you have any other DRAC in your environment that don't experience the delayed POST display in the virtual console?

You may see if you can get your screen shots you need if you view one of the Boot capture videos.

You can view the last three boot cycles and the last crash video. Note: These features require a Enterprise license. You need Access Virtual Console or admin privileges to view the videos. Videos are stored in RAM and will be deleted if iDRAC is reset. The time shown in the iDRAC player might be different from other video players.

In the iDRAC Web interface, go to Maintenance > Troubleshooting > Video Capture.

The Video Capture page is displayed.

From the Video Capture Settings drop-down menu, select any of the following options:

Disable — Boot capture is disabled.

Capture until buffer full — Boot sequence is captured until the buffer size has reached.

Capture until end of POST — Boot sequence is captured until end of POST.

Click Apply to apply the settings.
