iDRAC not showing any new firmware

I have several identical PowerEdge servers and since this week (Monday I think) the iDRAC is only showing a single downgrade for the iDRAC when I do a check under Maintenance/System Update.

I'm using HTTPS and downloads.dell.com which is what I've always used.

It was working on exactly identical model/generation servers last week as I upgraded the BIOS/NIC/firmware/iDRAC firmware this way.

I've rebooted the iDRAC and it's made no difference.

Is there an issue please?

It would help us to know which model system(s) is showing this.

Hello,

Do you see any errors on the System Event Log (SEL) in the iDRAC related to the firmware update?

Try Clear browser cache and retry

Try a different browser and retry

Have you checked to see if they are already up to date?

Drivers & Downloads R760xs

https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/poweredge-r760xs/drivers

Is it reaching the downloads site?

Try this:

Maintenance > Diagnostics > Diagnostics console command

ping 23.212.72.53

Ip address for download.dell.com

Hi Charles, so a different browser and trying inprivate/incognito tabs does the same thing.

There's nothing at all in the SEL.

The ping works.

Test Network Connectivity passes and it's checking for updates.

Problem is the only update I'm being offered is a downgrade of the iDRAC from 7.20.10.05 to 7.10.90.00 via iDRAC-with-Lifecycle-Controller_Firmware_92MM7_WN64_7.10.90.00_A00.EXE.

Same thing on multiple R760xs hosts.

BIOS, BOSS, NIC firmware, the ones on the Dell Support site are newer than on the hosts but they simply aren't being offered by the iDRAC when the exact same host spec (we have several of these bought at the same time, exactly identical hardware spec, and we always keep them at the same firmware levels after upgrading one then running it for a few days before upgrading the others) offered them up last week.

Hope that helps.

I have a tech support case open if you want the case number (not sure if it's "safe" to post it on a public forum).

Hello,

That's good you raised a support case. Please don't post the case number on the forum.

My next suggestion would have been try updating the BIOS and the iDRAC then check if downloads.dell.com works for the rest of the updates.

BIOS 2.6.3

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=xk9ct&oscode=ws22l&productcode=poweredge-r760xs

iDRAC 7.20.30.00

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=r8v2f&oscode=ws22l&productcode=poweredge-r760xs

Let us know what Support says.

Thanks Charles only issue there is the first server which was updated last week through the iDRAC is now only showing downgrades too.

So I think this is a repo issue not a server/local issue.

How do I get this escalated please?

Hi,

If you're in a hurry to get the update installed, you might want to try using Dell Repository Manager (DRM) to create a local update repository. It’s a bit more hands on, but it gives you more control over the update process.

This could be just be a temporary glitch with Dell’s update servers. These things happen from time to time, and often they’re resolved within a day or two. If it’s not urgent, it might be easiest to just wait and try again later.

Since you’ve already opened a support ticket, it could be worth reaching out to your case owner to see if they can escalate the issue internally. I haven’t seen any widespread reports of this yet, so it might be something new or just not widely noticed yet.

Hope that helps!

Hello Paul,

I see the Support case you set up and the case owner has updated you that they have raised the issue with the internal team.

Noted that there is no ETA at this time but they will keep you posted.
