Heatsink R640

Hello colleagues,

I have a problem. I need to install an ‘Intel Xeon Gold 6134 8-Cores 24.75MB Cache 3.2GHz 130W TDP’ processor in an R640 server,

R640 server, but I received this C6R9H heat sink and I am looking for information. It says that it supports 125W and not 165W. I have searched official sources

and they do not confirm that it is suitable for this. Could someone help me and confirm whether it supports 165W or only 125W?

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards

Either heat sink could work since processor is 130W but you should be ok with PN#0F8NV

Heat sink options

There are two types of heat sink available on PowerEdge R640

● 2-pipe heat sink - Used in systems with CPU more than 150 W

● Standard heat sink 1 - Used in system with CPU less than or equal with 165 W

Processor part number#VFV0H - ASSY,PRC,6134,3.2,24.75MB,FRU

Intel, 3.2GHz, 24.75MB, FSB 10400MHz, 130W, Xeon Gold 6134,

Standard heat sink 1 - Used in system with CPU less than or equal with 165 W

Part #:0F8NV

Part Desc.:ASSY,HTSNK,CPU,STD,1U,R640/740

Hello,

I see that this part is compatible with R640. I also see another heatsink that I think is compatible with it. I think it will support it depending on the fan configuration. Dell EMC PowerEdge R640 Technical Specifications | Dell US

0F8NV ASSY,HTSNK,CPU,STD,1U,R640/740
C6R9H ASSY,HTSNK,CPU,1U,PIPE,R74/640

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply.

I know they are equivalent, but I see that some are for 125W (0F8NV) and the other says 125W (C6R9H), and unofficial websites say that it supports 165W. That was my question: does C6R9H support up to 165W or is it limited to 125W?

Best regards.
