Extra intel pro/1000 pt dual port server adapters installed but 1 is recognized.
Dears,
I have Dell Precision T5860, I have bought 2 extra NIC cards to be installed in it (each have 2 ports)
I have installed them in the bottom PCIe slots but i only 1 was recognized, the other NIC is not even shown in device manager, is there like a cap for how many PCIe slots I can use or a work around for this issue?
all bios configurations regarding PCIe are turned on.
all critical drivers are installed from the dell website.

Small update, when i open device manage, it keeps on refreshing but not detecting anything new.
This issue is happening in 2 desktops.

When speaking about "Server" its very common that not all PCIe Slots are usable when only having one CPU installed because lack of PCI lanes. But thats not common when speaking about "Desktops" but you should take a look into the docs. Often the CPUs slots are labeld with CPU#1 and CPU#2 and if so its a clear indicator.
You can try to find out which NIC 100% works if you only start with one. Than try both available Slots and see if there is a difference.

Joerg

Based on your screenshot from the windows device manager i can see 2 NICs?
How many interfaces you see within the network device manager?
Edit: I was wrong. The device manager display each "port" of a given nic and number them. Indeed only on Card is listet right now.

@Origin3k there are 4 ports appearing, 2 from MB and 2 from NIC added, remaining not appearing is 2.
