Expand current array?
Hi,
One of our customers have a Dell PowerEdge T440 with 6x450GB SATA disks (RAID6), but need more storage since they are running out of disk space. Can I easily extend the current array?

Depending on your RAID controller you should take a look into the H740 manual and read the chapter about a Online Capacity Expansion(OCE). Under certain circumstances it is possible to expand an existing raid group, expland the vDisk and expand the OS Filesystem.
When having installed OMSA it will helped.

Hello Can you tell us which RAID controller you use? To see if it supports OCE or not.
You can also provide us youe service tag through DM. https://www.dell.com/community/en/direct-messaging

@DELL-Young E
It's a PERC H750 Adapter (f/w version 52.16.1-4074).

Thank you very much. Seems like OCE is supported for this controller (for RAID6), but I also found this text on the same page: NOTE: You cannot perform a RAID level migration and expansion on RAID levels 50 and 60.
Is RAID6 and RAID60 the same?

@Origin3k OK, so then it should work with expanding the array (of course with the same disk size)?
