We are using DSU to update our PowerEdge fleet and noticed what looks like a catalog / compatibility issue affecting the OS Driver Pack on PowerEdge R650.

Hardware

• System: PowerEdge R650

• Storage: 8x 2.5” NVMe, PERC H755N, 1x 960 GB NVMe SSD

• CPUs / RAM: 2x Gold 6348, 16 x 64 GB DDR4

Software

• DSU version: 2.1.2.0 (from linux.dell.com DSU repo) 

• OS: Linux x86_64 (running DSU in-band)

What DSU does

1. Run dsu with the default DSU repository.

2. DSU inventories the system and shows that OS Driver Pack 25.07.01 is already installed:

   16. APAC, Dell OS Driver Pack, 25.07.01, A00  ( Version : 25.07.01 )

3. On the second run DSU decides that Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00

   is an applicable update and tries to install it:

   DELL System Update 2.1.2.0...Determining Applicable Updates ...Fetching Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00 ...Installing Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00.BIN is not applicable to the systemDrivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00.BIN could not be installedUnable to get the update(s), Please check the logs for more details.

   So DSU’s catalog marks this DUP as applicable to R650, but the DUP itself disagrees.

Manual DUP check

If I download and run the same DUP manually on the R650:

R650 is explicitly not in the supported systems list printed by the DUP.

The public driver page for RMG6P (Dell OS Driver Pack 25.08.04) also lists the compatible systems as:

• Dell EMC vSAN R750 Ready Node

• PowerEdge R450, R550, R6525, R750, R750xs, R7525, T550, XR11, XR12, XR4510c, XR4520c

and again there is no R650 in that list.

Request

Can you please:

1. Confirm that Drivers-for-OS-Deployment_Application_RMG6P_LN64_25.08.04_A00 is not intended for PowerEdge R650.

2. Fix the DSU catalog (and any related catalogs used by iDRAC / OME) so that:
   * R650 does not get RMG6P 25.08.04 offered as an applicable update.
   * R650 only offers the correct OS Driver Pack version for this platform.
