Hi,
If you want to use a 2.5" NVMe SSD in one of the 3.5" hot-swap bays, you’ll need:A 3.5" LFF Dell Gen 14 tray (e.g., part numbers like X7K8W, DXD9H, or similar).
A 2.5"-to-3.5" drive adapter/converter—however, this is usually for SATA/SAS connections and not for native NVMe passthrough; NVMe drives use a different connector and signal than SAS/SATA.For a true NVMe drive, installation is typically done via a PCIe adapter card—not in the standard 3.5" bay.
Alternative solutions, such as the Dell BOSS card, support M.2 SATA SSDs but not NVMe directly in the drive bays.
If you specifically wish to mount a 2.5" NVMe SSD into the 3.5" bay for non-native use or just for mounting (without connectivity), a universal 2.5"-to-3.5" adapter would fit—however, data connection would only work for SAS/SATA drives, not for NVMe.For true NVMe functionality, use a PCIe card inside the server, and mount your NVMe drive there.
