DELL POWEREDGE T30 FREEZING WITH HARD DRIVE LIGHT STAYING ON

I Have a Dell PowerEdge T30 at a client. The existing memory module is giving me problems, in that it freezes up the Operating system within about 20min. I have installed OpenSuse 15.6, as there was a problem with the previous SSD that had Windows 10 Workstation on it, then for some unbeknown reason Windows 10 came out with a blue screen of death to tell me Critical Error no real explanation of what the fault was. So I replace the Hard Drive. I did use Opensuse 15.6 with the previous Hard Drive (SSD) which locked up the Operating system within 5min. There is also a second HDD which is a normal HDD within the Desktop.

The whole idea with putting Linux on it is to eliminate driver problems if I put back Windows 10 workstation.

I also had the incorrect DDR4 Ram in it, which was 3200mhz non-ecc, which I took out eventually. Then I got hold of another DDR4 ECC RAM which just made the power light go amber and didn’t work.

Now I only have the original memory module that came with the DELL

Hi,

-Use only ECC or Dell-certified compatible RAM at 2133 or 2666 MT/s.

-Use supported OS

-Run Dell Diagnostics to help identify hardware problems.

-Freezing with hard drive light stuck is most often RAM or motherboard related when drives and OS have been replaced.

Addressing these points should narrow down the root cause and help restore server stability.
