Dell Poweredge R640 Mainboard Replacement
Hi i have a question regarding mainboard compatibility. We are planning to replace the motherboard of our Poweredge R640. Our current mainboard's DP/N is 0PHYDR. Can we use any mainboard that's compatible with Poweredge R640 or do we need to have exactly the one with 0PHYDR. We also need to know if there's any discrepancy on the PCIe placements between multiple DP/N

Rachmanto,
While all the motherboards are supported, it's important to ensure that the replacement motherboard supports all the features and configurations of your current setup. That being said, the PHYDR motherboard is a version 4 revision, so in my opinion I would stay with it or go with the version 5 revision (part # RJCR7)as some of the connected devices may not support the older revisions.
As far as the PCIe placements, they should be consistent across all the motherboards designed for the PowerEdge R640, as Dell typically maintains uniformity in the layout and functionality of motherboards within the same server model to ensure compatibility and ease of replacement.
Let me know if this helps.

Hi @DELL-Chris H
Thanks for answering. So for replacement I should use ver4+ motherboards to ensure my setup's feature and configurations are supported. Is there a reference for which are those ver4+ motherboards DP/Ns?

Hi @DELL-Young E,
Thanks for answering, that helps a lot. Another thing is we need a list of motherboard part number that is V4 and V5, like if RJCR7 is V5, what are H28RR XFK4K 0W23H8, and so on.
Thanks

RJCR7 is a V5 and the alternatives are
Subs.:HG0J8, RGP26, 8HT8T
H28RR XFK4K 0W23H8 -> V3 and under
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the answer @DELL-Young E
Can you tell us some of the V4 PNs?
We cannot find the V5 motherboards locally

Hello, we highly encourage that you contact and purchase from Dell for any compatibility issue. We do not have a list of it, we can only verify your part numbers.
