Changing UEFI Boot Sequence

Greetings.  I attempted to search for my question but I didn't have much luck.

I have a PowerEdge R7525, and it is booting in UEFI mode.  I would like to configure this server so that PXE is the first boot device attempted, followed by the local hard drives.  I can change this in the "UEFI Boot Sequence" menu, and it works once, but after booting, it always changes back to "hard drive first."

I saw this comment in one of the Dell hardware guides:

>  Changing the drive boot sequence is only supported in BIOS boot mode.

Does this mean that it is not possible to do what I want, to change the UEFI Boot Sequence permanently?  Or is there another setting somewhere that I am missing?

Thank you very much.

Hello,

It is noted: Changing the drive boot sequence is only supported in BIOS boot mode.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-uk/poweredge-r7525/r7525_bios_ism_pub/changing-boot-order?guid=guid-134f00b3-ef49-4101-92a5-c0ddab8b7d99

You can take a look in the System BIOS Settings > Boot Settings > UEFI Boot Settings.

Try to set UEFI Boot Sequence there or you can disable all options except PXE boot device you want to use.

@DELL-Charles R

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying.  First you say it's not supported, and then you tell me where to fix it.

I can enable / disable the devices I do / don't need, but I cannot reorder them.  Is enable / disable the only option I have?

Hello,

Yes I put the information to try to re-order them to see if you could try and verify if it will stick or not.

That would affirm that enable/disable would be the only option to ensure the PXE device you want to be the boot device.

I'm sorry for the confusion.
