Additional drives for dell T440 and T430
Hi, I have 2 T430 and T440 servers in 2 different locations.
I would like to add 2 additional disks to them but I have no more space in the front.
From what I have read, the Perc H330 and Perc H730 disk controllers support more than 8 disks.
I would like the disks to work in RAID so I need to connect them to the controller.
The question is how to do it?
It doesn't have to be pretty, it can even stand on the server (I will mount it well).

Hello,
Unfortunately there is no Dell supported field changing of backplane configuration. That chassis is selected at time of purchase.
Both the T440 and the T430 have two supported backplane configuration:
x8 SAS/SATA backplane for 3.5 inch hard drives
x16 SAS/SATA backplane for 2.5 inch hard drives
It sounds like you have the x8, 3.5" backplane and there is no way to add more drives.
If someone in the community has tried they could share their experience.
One option may be to get larger drives, backup, create new array of the larger drives, install and restore.
