R720 Power Supply Incorrectly Configured Even After Replacing Both Power Supplies
Hello,
We have an R720, and we had a couple of the lower watt power supplies and would always get errors. Whenever we would manually power it on using the power button we would have to press it multiple times until it would turn on. We needed to upgrade the power supplies to 1100w for another reason, and thought this would kill two birds with one stone and fix the issue. But now we are having the same issues. Now I have to unplug both power supplies, and re plug them in to be able to manually power it on at all. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be?

Jaronk2000,
I would start by taking the server to its minimum to post configuration, which is removing everything internally and externally from the server, but the following;
One Power Supply
Control Panel (for power button functionality)
Working cable connection between control panel and system board
One Processor (CPU) in socket CPU1 (minimum for troubleshooting)
One Memory Module (DIMM) installed in socket A1
System Board
Backplane (for R720xd)
Once you do that I would then try powering up, if you still have the same issue then power down the server again, remove the power cables, and hold the power button for 20 seconds. After that then you will need to reseat the control panel cables, at both ends, in order to be certain it has a good connection. After reseating then I would restore the power cables and try powering again. If the issue is still present, and if you have one available, I would suggest you try swapping the control panel with a known good one from another R720.
Let me know what you see.
