R640 ipmitool

Reference controlling fan speeds on 14g and above.

Wanted to check when we will be able to control the fan speed again via the ipmitool?  I find it disturbing that I cannot control my OWN hardware.

I see some logic behind it for the IT people that would probably ruin the hardware, BUT that is on them and not dell.

So again I don’t understand on hardware we own we cannot just do whatever we want.  It’s not up to you to you.

So when can we expect to be able to do this again?

It’s odd because dell techs have provided how to do it in other questions that have arose over the years here.

Also I checked my invoice and yeah it’s my hardware that I purchased.  Now after the fact you change it, after I have paid for the hardware, your company now has locked me out of setting my own hardware, that I have been able to do.  Seems  like if you want to make blanket changes it should only be on new sold/leased hardware and not what is out there and been used by the customer there OWN way.

Do you see the problem? If not maybe this should be taken up to a higher level in the company.

Respectfully.
