Dell PowerEdge R210II + Google Coral

Hello,

I have R210II server that runs Home Assistant for me. I wanted to add a Google Coral module (mini PCIe version) to have object detection from my cameras via Frigate, as CPU detection is quite big effort for this hardware.

I mounted the Coral with PCIe <> mini-PCIe adapter to the server PCI slot, but after that server is not starting. I noticed that green LED on motherboard turns off when I connect coral to the adapter.

I tested the adapter with a wifi card from my laptop and it starts normally.

Is there anything I can do to make it running?

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.

I'm afraid you have to engage 3rd party vendor to provide the list of

validated servers for their hardware : no way we could predict future in 2013 and have it tested. Connecting something new from another vendor on a 12-year-old server may not be working.

"I mounted the Coral with PCIe <> mini-PCIe adapter to the server PCI slot"

so 2 3rd party devices causing mobo to go in power failure state

Could it be because it was never designed to support it?

Could it be that it is trying to pull more power that it should? It is not something tech support can help even on warranty servers.

Hope you understand.
