Oracle/HP-UX migration to Vblock

Hi Oracle Community,

Does anyone out there have experience of migrating HP/UX Oracle on itanium to an x86 environment with Linux/Windows?

Anything experience / information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Brian

Brian,

"Cross-Platform Oracle Database Migration Using Transportable Tablespaces and EMC Open Replicator for Symmetrix" is an excellent use case by EMC that was created in 2008. Use this link for the use case:

https://community.emc.com/search.jspa?resultTypes=&dateRange=all&peopleEnabled=true&q=_1_oracle_solutions+transportable&containerType=14&container=2857&containerName=Everything+Oracle+at+EMC&username=&rankBy=relevance&numResults=30

Hope that helps!

Hello Sam

The below link of the document from CISCO is a real case of Migrating Oracle & SAP from HP-UX (Itanium) to CISCO UCS (x86).

http://www.cisco.com/web/about/ciscoitatwork/data_center/docs/Cisco_IT_Case_Study_OracleMigrationtoUCS.pdf

Source Environment:

3000 users on SAP/Oracle RAC 10g

HP-UX Itanium server

Target Environment:

Oracle RAC 11g

Cisco UCS 5700

The document described general process and some guidelines of:

  • Migrating & upgrading Oracle from HP-UX to Cisco UCS
  • Migrating SAP ERP from HP-UX to UCS

Hope it will be also helpful for Vblock migration.

Regards!

Simon Zhao
