The idea behind the Oracle Community's Project OVERT is to develop a  Go-to-Market and deployment transformation roadmap across People, Process and  Technology to virtualise Oracle Environments. In other words, the idea is to  transform our customers from a costly, static bare-metal environment to an  agile, flexible virtualized environment running on Vblock, encompassing DR,  replacing RAC clustering, and driving better licencing value for our Customers.  It will become a standardized repeatable process for both Sales and Delivery.  With all the expertise in EMC, there is yet to be a collaborative solution  across Core EMC, EMC Consulting, the Oracle Solutions group and VCE to provide  an end to end roadmap for success. It is different to every other approach made  to date as there is not a fully linked up solution to drive better value  currently in the organization.
The problems this initiative solves are:

 Consistent messaging to the marketplace
 Standardized and repeatable  process across Sales and Delivery - i.e. Sales collateral, use cases, template  SOW’s, template Program Management collateral, migration strategies, percentile  reduction in Customers oracle licencing costs, and so on.
 Reduced cost and  risk for our customers
 Greater flexibility for Oracle environments
  Reduced RPO and RTO solutions for EMC customers
 Leverage converged  infrastructure

To date, we have a Founder team, with core skill sets across  Program management, Strategic vision, People and Process consultancy and deep  level technology experts to support the initiative. The OVERT team are going to  continue this effort even if we do not make selection for the finals, as we can  see the value of this initiative. We will leverage the journey to the Innovation  Conference as a target for success and a means to propagate our Vision and  mission. Our phrase, ‘it’s not criminal’ refers to how the environments that we  recommend will be fully supported by Oracle, ensuring none of our customers are  put at risk by this initiative. This Project will bring a new mindset to the  marketplace, and a joined up message for EMCer’s.
