OptiPlexe 3040 SFF PC Can't Find suitable RAM
I have a question about upgrading the memory. I tried two or three pairs of 1.5V and 1.35V RAM, but whenever I change the RAM, the computer displays a RAM error. I don't know which model to pick. I will add the original RAM that I am using right now. I want to replace them with 8 GB x 2.

Your OptiPlex 3040 SFF supports DDR3L (1.35V) RAM, not standard DDR3 (1.5V). Make sure you're using DDR3L 1600MHz or 1866MHz modules. Stick to known brands like Crucial or Kingston for best compatibility.

If using Kingston RAM, be sure it's not KVR (Kingston Value RAM). It has been hit or miss in Dell's.
I've been using A-Tech RAM for years. It's a great way to save money on somewhat older machines. Like Crucial, it's guaranteed to work and has a lifetime warranty.
When searching for RAM, include "Optiplex 3040 SFF" in your search term. A-Tech is sold on Amazon and eBay.
