OptiPlex XE3 ATX 24 pin to 6 pin ATX
I want to upgrade the power supply in my Dell OptiPlex XE3 to one that supports an 8 pin PCIe GPU. I'm considering using the following adapter: https://www.moddiy.com/products/PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cable-for-Dell-OptiPlex-Vostro.html
Does anyone know if this adapter is compatible with Optiplex XE3? I want to avoid damaging anything.

yes that one works. XE3 6 pin has same pinout as the Optiplex 7050-7090 or XPS 8940.
downside of 24-6 is that psu would not shut down by itself when you shut down Windows. user needs to manually power down psu
