In need of some direction on what graphics card my Dell can use?

Any direction you Dell persons have that might move me along I'd be much oblidged! I have decided, with prices as they are, my best bet is to upgrade from the integrated graphics in this Dell Desktop to a dedicated card. I am average knowledge. I've installed ram in various machines so I'm not afraid of the guts of pc's nor the registry or tweaking, mostly good results. 👴

I have the 3050 Optiplex Tower. Win 10 Pro ( theres a plethroa of info in the images below) Are you familiar with Belarc Logging? I've got all the info I need about this pc but I don't see how strong the power supply is. I understand that is important. I could post the Belarc log to show all the configuration. Maybe it has a standard Power Supply. I found this online in relation to this pc. A bit more under the image. Again, thanks so much for any consideration of help!  jack ":-Dx

I understand that something called a low profile graphics card might be in order? My video editing used to be okay but as I learn the tricks, it's starting to bog down. I suspect that's because it's integrated graphics. And I suspect low profile use less wattage. Amazon has some cards at around the $50 area, much better than an upgrade for higher graphics at hundreds. And I'd have to go the refurb way and while I've had good experiences with refurbs I'd hate to order one that still isn't doing much for me, I'd have to return it. Ugh! Here's a bit of that Belarc log. Maybe you can see something that is relevant?

You have indicated that you have an OptiPlex 3050 tower.  That is incorrect, you have OptiPlex 3050 SFF (small form factor).  The 240w power supply is for tower, yours is a 180w power supply.  Verify with the label on the power supply for certain.

Very limited option, low profile graphics card of 30w.  Can try 50w cards by swapping HDDs and ODD to SSD.

@Chino de Oro Thank you so very much. It is an SSD drive. I"ll do some more research on whether the 30w cards would help me much rather than all the swapping. Time and expertise needed there. I'd like go for another refurb, which this one is. Refurbs have done me well in the past. ty again!

If you don't mind big tower, I suggest powerful workstation that is officially support Windows 11 and is costed less than the Windows itself.  This is an example of a complete system, ready to use and yet, it can be upgrade with more wide range of components and powerful graphics in the future (it already has 950w PSU).

Hi Jack

I have a dell vostro 470mt ,and took the sorry nVidia 1GB out and I would recommend this card https://amzn.eu/d/00JSS7O it put out HDR and Play 4k video .

It is an AMD RX 560 XT 8GB it draws around 30 watts ,it can be Over Clocked at the push of the mouse ,and voltages can be adjusted using AMD s "Adrenaline " software .

Im sure most dells of this spec ship with a 350watt power unit

Hope this helps

Regards Y
