how to bypass Wi-Fi connection during Windows 11 install

It sees a list of wi-fi network and asks me to connect.  I cannot find a way to skip this test.

of course after I connect it forces me to log in using MS account.  no way to skip.

I do not like to have MS account and PIN log in but it forces me.

I had to change to local account after Win 11 is all set up and logged in through MS account.

what a forceful self-promotion scheme

Don't worry about wireless.  As long as you don't connect as being asked by the installation process.  Just look at lower screen and you will see option I don't have internet.  The ethernet, on other hand, would automatically dial home to MS updates, you will have to pull the plug before installation.

Creating bypass into installer is a lot easier than running command during installation and save time too.

A local account system will allow any users to log in to their MS account during sessions and remove accounts after session ended.  Just be sure to disable device and account synchronization.  Same thing with browsers settings.

I used Optiplex 790 which has no wireless.  install stalls.  mandatory to have internet connection to download update.

I chose work school use, and type username in "Domain" which bypassed MS account log in.  the Domain name is actually local account user name.  this comes from tip in one of chino's links

the only way I can think of is to shut down all wireless network it can detect which is not feasible.  it is like a missile obstinately wanting to head home to MS server and the only way to shut it down is to kill all satellite link.  another way is to pull my Wi-Fi out of M.2 socket, another I should not have to do maneuver.

It is Win 11 24H2 not having enough space on its released iso or USB install media that it says you need to have internet connection to download updates and security features.  I am going to try install in an older Dell that has no built in wireless or ethernet connection.  I will see what the installer does then.  would install stall or proceed when it detects no network option at all.

The installation will stalled at creating MS account, without giving you option to go forward.

You can use Rufus to create Windows installer.  There is an option to bypass MS account, which during installation, you will be given option I don't have internet (with your system ethernet is disconnected of course).  The installation process will then, giving you option to create local account user name and password.

There is an option to pre-select local account using Rufus.  But, that is not convenient for using the USB installer on several different machines.  Therefore, create your own local accounts of your choice is better.

yes I think as soon as Installer sees my PC has wireless adapter it bites on without letting go.  I have to ditch MS account after all it is set up to change to local.

One of your most recommended clean install links with visual guide said

Quick tip: Use the “Set up for work or school” option to skip the Microsoft account and create a local account.

I will try that.  I am using a super cool way that bypasses Win 11 check which may be why I don’t see the option of “I have no internet “
