Dell Optiplex 7010Dt upgrade route
So i am planning to case swap a dell optiplex 7010 DT with an intel i5 3570. As this system mostly has the proprietary connecters what are the main things that i should keep in mind. I am fairly new to the pc building seen and this is my first project.

It has a standard mATX mobo (same as 7010 MT) but nonstandard psu. The 5 pin power switch and front panel header pins are non standard but there are off shelf adapters for those. You just need a standard ATX 24/4 pin psu and the FIO and pwr switch adapter to move into a mATX/ATX case.

if you skip the front IO adapter you may get a start up error which you can pass by pressing F1 to continue. You would not be able to connect new case front usb or headphone audio port to 7010 board without the adapter. But that is small loss. 7010 usb is 2.0 anyway. You can still get audio on back port.

@redxps630 Is this the same adapter as mentioned earlier? Or is this used in a different way?

Similar concept but different style. You can make one yourself by modding the 7010 case power button cable.

@redxps630 7010 has USB 3.0, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. Predecessor 790 is USB 2.0 only. Not sure if that changes anything.
