Dell Core Services Memory Leak
We recently installed Dell Command Update v5.5.0 and it came with a new program we have not seen before, "Dell Core Services." This program is experiencing a memory leak issue (the program will periodically consume all available memory) and is happening on several of our 100+ machines. Version is 1.10.33.0. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have this same issue on one of two machines using DDPM and network KVM. This morning the one machine had used up 98% of its 64GB of RAM. Killing the client service restores the memory and sometimes the service will resume to 'normal' memory allocation at least for a period of time, but this kind of manual intervention is far less than ideal.

Same for us. We have a case in with Dell (wow it was hard to get ahold of someone to talk about software on a computer that is no longer in warranty). We are looking at proactively removing all Dell software from all computers since it's causing more and more issues. Seems like this past week to maybe month now we have seen more and more issues with the Core Services software. To the point where we get new Dell laptops and wipe them and reinstall a new fresh clean install of Windows 11 and go from there (sadly).

There's another parallel thread on the same issue under XPS Desktops which has some more information. It seems like Dell is updating many of these programs to use Dell.CoreServices.Client which has a serious memory leak issue on some machines. I've had to revert back to Command Update v 5.4.0 and the older DDM 2.3.2.23, neither of which use Dell.CoreServices.Client but seem to provide the functionality I need until Dell comes up with a fix. I've stopped using Network KVM because it's so buggy.

Thank you for the information MartinRK.
I'll take a look at the thread on the XPS Desktops page.
I dont really expect Dell to do much with the case we have open with them but if they reply and have any helpful information, I'll post it here.
Thank you,
TJS

Hi everyone,
Thanks for sharing your experiences and feedback regarding the DellCoreServicesClient and memory usage concerns.
To help us narrow down the root cause, we’d like to ask you to try the following steps:
Please ensure you have the most recent version installed. You can download it from the Dell Support site.
After updating, monitor your system to see if the memory usage issue persists.
Once you've completed the test, please reinstall the latest version of DDPM and let us know if the issue returns.
Your feedback on this process will help us better understand the behavior and work toward a resolution. Please share your results in this thread once you've completed the steps.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

We don't use DDPM in our environment, so not sure these steps apply to us. If we revert back to Dell Command Update v5.4.0, then there is no issue because that program is not using "Dell Core Services" application. The Dell Core Services application is new with Dell Command Update v5.5.0 and that is where we're seeing the memory leak issue.

I agree with Shaunm001: The latest version of either DDPM or Dell Command Update both install and use Dell Core Services which appears to be the root cause of the issue. Either program alone will cause the memory problem. Reverting back to previous versions of DDM and Dell Command Update 5.4.0 prior to implementation of Dell Core Services is a temporary workaround.
As a side note: I run the latest DDPM on an HP mobile workstation also (without Dell Command Update) and on that machine Dell Core Services does not exhibit the memory usage problem.

Echoing Shaunm001 and MartinRK.
We only show Dell Peripheral Manager on 11 of hundreds of systems. We dont have any Dell Display Peripheral Manager software (presuming they are different programs).
Dell Command Update v5.4.0 appears to work fine and does not install extra Dell bloatware.
We are working to remove all Dell software on all laptops and desktops as this seems to be the best way to be rid of all the Dell software issues.

I checked for latest version of Dell Command Update today and I don't see v5.5.0 available for download anymore, the latest offering shown now is v5.4.0. Looks like it may have been pulled...?

Ahh yes it does appear that the older version is no longer on Dell's web site. Only 5.5.0 for x86 or x64

It looks like it's back now, oddly with same version number but different payload (file hash and digital signature are both different from the version published in April). Can anyone from Dell Support weigh in on this? Has the issue been addressed with this newly published v5.5.0 iteration?

We are having the same issue with various customers. Including one customer who has 12 machines Latitude 3520 and 4 of them have had this issue and 8 don't. And we have disabled the dell service on all machines until this is fixed.
The issue was the 2 agents below with the memory usage.
Dell.Tech.TechHub.DataManager.SubAgent.exe 5 -11GB
Dell.Tech.TechHub.Instrumentation.SubAgent.exe 1-4GB
